We defend the freedom of speech

We who sign this text of solidarity, consider unfair the fact that the prefectural councilor and founder member of Ecological Movement of Thessaloniki Michalis Tremopoulos is sent to court again by the exactly the same circles that are responsible for the degradation of life quality kai the environmental destruction of Greece.

It’s obvious that in 10th of May, day that Michalis Tremopoulos is sent to court together with the mayority councils of Sithonia, Taso Gimo and Stellio Charalambidi, after lawsuit of the owner of Porto Carras K. Steggo for slanderous defamation of his S.A. companies, the freedom of speech and the right of paublic controll by the responsible citizens are judged.

At last, with this trial, after all the public outcry against the illegal actions by Steggos-Pahtas and other political personalities, there is a danger to remain in mind that these three prosecuted people are the real responsibles, because they support the self-understood: that this enterpreneur, who was concemned because he was made rich with illegal activities in Stock Exchange, has bribed other persons in order to support his personal interests,   but all people that have struggled for the defence of the future of the area and their dignity concentrated against him.

Moreover, we reject any accusal of members of the Local Authorities,  when they express criticism in the context of their political duties. In this case, it is clear that such persons  who their only pursuit is the protection of life quality, of forests and the defence of public interest, have beed choosed as targets.

In 10 of May, the decision of Magistrate’s Court in Athens will surely be the complete acquittal of the accused.
